In 1857, thirteen architects met in New York to form an organization to promote architects and architecture. The AIA was born. Ten years later, the AIA held its first annual convention in New York. Don’t miss the event’s return to its birthplace! AIANY/Center for Architecture is planning dozens of tours and events that will bring you to every borough—by boat, bike, bus, subway, and on foot.

We’ll bring you to skyscrapers and storefronts, museums and manufacturing hubs, islands and tunnels, monuments, parks, and more. What better way to experience NYC than guided by local architects? See you in New York!

Visit the official conference site for links to hotel reservations, the call for conference abstracts and a look back at highlights from A'17.

Tour Proposals
AIA New York is responsible for planning the local educational and recreational tours. After our spring survey and committee outreach, we're issuing a final call for proposed tours of buildings, projects or neighborhoods. Please complete the tour proposal form and send it in to our conference coordinator.

Call for Speaker Proposals
The AIA Conference on Architecture features hundreds of speakers on a wide range of education sessions on emerging trends, thought-provoking topics, practice strategies, and some of the most interesting ideas in architecture. The Call for Proposals for speakers has recently been released. Subject matter experts with a concept for an A'18 education session are invited to submit proposals by August 1, 2017. A detailed reference guide and full submission details are outlined at the call site.

Peer Reviewers Needed

AIA is actively recruiting subject matter experts to peer review A’18 educational proposals. As a peer reviewer, you’ll help us evaluate and select the very best educational content and shape our 2018 program. You’ll also review presentation materials, serve as a peer coach, and conduct session audits onsite at A’18. Click here for details.

Volunteer Opportunities
As host chapter, AIA New York will be looking for volunteers to help with tours, symposium check-in, and in various capacities throughout the conference. If you would be interested in helping, please contact us at
